Waterford City and County Council and BAM wish to advise that nighttime resurfacing works will take place on Abbey Road in Ferrybank from this Wednesday, June 11, to Friday, June 13.

Michael Quinn stated: "I've made it very clear from my point of view that I don't think the level of business would justify a shuttle bus."

Cllr Fidelis Doherty (Fine Gael) said that the decision to remove the shuttle bus directly contradicts the entire point of sustainable transport.

'The Irish taxpayer is going to be paying for this for a very long time'

The contracts prevented the workers from receiving PRSI, pension, sickness and death-in-service benefits

A two-week extension of the closure of Abbey Road in Ferrybank has been granted by Waterford City and Council to BAM, which means the road closure will still be in place as the schools return from summer holidays
