Harcourt development plans progressing in the "right direction" after stalls earlier this year

Progress on the planned 430-unit development along Waterford's North Quays is "definitely going in the right direction," says Waterford City and County Council, after the plans were stalled earlier this year.
While a number of funding issues and approvals are making it "very difficult to predict" when Harcourt Development's North Quays plans will be ready for resubmission, Michel Quinn, Director of Services for Waterford City and County Council, assured councilors that progress is going in a positive direction.
At a recent metropolitan district meeting, Mr. Quinn told the elected members that he was hopeful the project would get through its funding and approvals within the next few months and continue on until the next stage.
At the meeting he said: "Progress has been very positive in relation to funding and different aspects of it."
"We are hopeful that it will get all those in place in the next few months," he added.
This comes after the council stalled Harcourt Development's plans earlier this year, with a request for further information on the development's revised planning application.
In March of this year, Waterford City and County Council asked Harcourt to provide further details and proof of sufficient communal amenity space, bulk goods storage areas for apartments, and proof of adequate bicycle space for the additional 80 units proposed in their revised planning application.
Uisce Éireann also raised issue with the lack of sufficient information in Harcourt's new plan.
Harcourt Development's planning application will be marked as withdrawn, if the requested information is not provided to the Waterford City and County Council by October of this year.
