Great excitement as Sinn Fein newcomer takes seat

A serious road traffic collision has occurred in County Waterford this evening involving a pedestrian and a lorry.  Emergency services are currently at the scene where the male pedestrian has reportedly been very seriously injured.

Independent Councillor Joe Kelly expressed delight to Waterford News & Star having got re-elected in the Waterford City West LEA.

Fianna Fail’s Cllr John O’Leary has been elected on the second count in Portlaw/Kilmacthomas LEA. The Kilmeaden local will join Fine Gael’s Cllrs Liam Brazil and Seanie Power, who were elected on count one yesterday.

It was a historic victory for Sinn Féin in the Waterford election as the party won their first ever seat in the Lismore LEA, with Donnchadh Mulcahy overcoming Independent candidate Brian Buckley by 39 votes.

It's a changing of the guard in the Lismore electoral area after new candidate, Niamh O'Donovan secured a seat for Fine Gael following the fourth count. Labour's, Cllr John Pratt also retained his seat on the fourth count with a total of 1,392 votes.
