The death sadly occurred on Saturday, July 27, of Mr Anthony (Tony) Cantwell, late of Woodbury Court, Ballinakill, Dunmore Road and formerly of Oak Mews, Military Road, Waterford. Pre-deceased by his loving father Neil, cousins Ricky and Miriam and his aunts Maureen and Bridie, he is survived by his loving mother Kathleen, his wife Lucia, his children Niamh, Luke and Beth, aunts Ena, Pat and Terry, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins Denis and Michael, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Anthony (Tony) will be sadly missed by all his family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Thursday, August 1, in St. Joseph and Benildus’ Church, Newtown at 11.30am followed by burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner.

Pre-deceased by his loving father John, he is survived by his loving mother Celine, brothers Eoin and Sheamus, sisters Ria and Oonagh, adored nieces, nephews and grandniece, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and a wide circle of friends. Dr Eibhear will be sadly missed by all his family, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Requiem Mass took place on Friday, August 2, at 10.30am in St. Joseph and Benildus’ Church Newtown, Waterford, followed by burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner.

If you are living on the Williamstown or Dunmore Road Area, we have a mixed gender art group for those aged between 16 to 18 years running every Monday from 7pm. If you are interested please don't hesitate to contact Nina on 086 7816269.
The centre's games room is available to book for each Monday in August. One hour slots are available for groups of up to six people with activities including pool, air hockey and Playstation. If any of our young people are interested in booking please contact Catriona on 083 0106257.
Waterford Libraries are delighted to again bring a series of free Writing Workshops to the people of Waterford. The programme will run from August to December and will give participants an opportunity to attend courses in both Irish and English. The courses are free of charge and open to people over 18 years, resident anywhere in the county. Application forms are also available at library desks.
Board Game Saturdays take place each weekend at Central Library, Waterford. Drop in for some family time playing board games from 10am to 12noon. All are welcome and children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.
In St Joseph & Benildus Church we are currently planning activities for the autumn in the parish and would love to receive your ideas. There is a suggestion box at the back of both Benildus and Ballygunner Church. Please let us know what courses, classes or events you would like to see happening.
The Parish of St. Joseph, St. Benildus and St. Mary Pilgrimage to Rome, led by Fr Liam Power PP, will take place between November 21 and 26. The cost will be €995 per person sharing, in double/twin room. The itinerary will be comprised of: Day 1: Thursday - arrival following afternoon flight to Rome from Dublin airport; Day 2 (Friday) – St. John Lateran, St. Cecilia, night tour; Day 3 (Saturday) – St Peter’s, St Mary Major, Piazza Navona; Day 4 (Sunday) – Papal Angelus, Castelgandolfo, Lake Albano; Day 5 (Monday) – Catacombs, St Paul’s, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.

A coffee morning takes place every Wednesday morning in the Benildus Parish Centre, immediately after the 10.30am Mass at St. Joseph & Benildus Church. Everyone is welcome to attend and no booking required. We hope to see some new faces over the coming months.
There will be no 7.30am mass for the month of August at St. Joseph & Benildus Church. The last 7.30am Mass for the summer was held on Wednesday, July 31. The 7.30am Mass will resume on Monday, September 2.
A very special event will take place in the Diocese on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 17 and 18. The relics of St Bernadette will visit the Diocese and a programme of events will be held in the Cathedral of the most Holy Trinity over the two. days. More details to follow.
Heritage Week runs from the August 17 to 25 and an interesting talk will take place in Ardkeen Library on Tuesday, August 20, at 2.30pm.
Titled, 'The Great Irish Silence' Irish Traditional Music of the United States Post Famine', by Tigerlily Keoghan, the event could be a highlight of the week locally. Tigerlily Keoghan is a musicologist, singer and piper, and will explore the traditional music of the Irish diaspora of the United States in the decades following the Great Famine.
This will be a free event but booking is required and more information can be had by contacting Ardkeen Library on 051 849755.
Saturday Board Games take place each week in Ardkeen Library. The activities include chess, scrabble, Connect Four and many more. The sessions will take place until August 31, and are held from 10.30am to 12.30pm. All are welcome to the free sessions.
A Baby and Me Group meets in Ardkeen Library on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 12pm. Children under 12 years must be accompanied and supervised in the library by a parent or guardian. Drop in and all welcome. Tales and Rhymes sessions take place in the library on Fridays from 10.30am to 12noon and a draughts club, for adults, meets on Thursdays at 10.30am in the library.
