Local Notes: Tidy Towns, pins and needles club, flying visit

The Pins and Needles Club, which meets every Monday evening at 7pm in St. James’ School Hall, Stradbally will resume in September.

Tidy Towns

At this time last year, judging for the Tidy Towns National Competition took place on Thursday, June 26, with a second visit one month later. As judging is due to take place, or may already have taken place, in recent days, it was disappointing to discover three sacks of clothes left beside the clothing bank in the church car park at approximately 1pm on Saturday, June 27, after the bank had become full. Incidents such as this can have a negative impact on how our village is assessed in the competition. Unfortunately, it is not the first time this has occurred. If the clothing banks are full, please contact the council to arrange for them to be emptied and keep any bags of clothes or bottles until space becomes available. Please remember that the car park is monitored by CCTV. We are working hard to keep Stradbally looking its best and would greatly appreciate everyone’s support in helping to maintain the village’s appearance.

Pins And Needles Club

The Pins and Needles Club, which meets every Monday evening at 7pm in St. James’ School Hall, Stradbally, closed for its summer break at the end of June. Members plan to return in September and look forward to welcoming anyone interested in crafts to join them in the autumn.

Flying Visit

Enjoying even warmer temperatures than those in his parish in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Monsignor Joe Corbett paid a brief visit to Stradbally last week to spend time with his mother and family. During his stay, he joined Fr. Cullinan in concelebrating the Vigil Mass at Holy Cross Church on Saturday evening. We wish him a safe journey back to his parish at the end of June.
