Lots of events are taking place in Passage East over the coming days.
Mass in Faithlegg Church will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 5, at 11.30am and on Saturday, August 8, at 6.30pm (Vigil Mass). Mass in Crooke Church will be celebrated on Thursday, August 6, at 10am and on Sunday, August 9, at 11.30am.
The Waterford and Lismore Diocesan Youth Fundraiser Golf Classic will take place on Monday, September 7, at Faithlegg Golf Club. Each parish is invited to enter a team. The event will be played as a teams-of-three Champagne Scramble and includes a meal. Shotgun starts will take place at 9am and 2pm, with excellent prizes on offer. Entry costs €240 per team. Hundreds of people descended on Passage East on Sunday, July 26, as the annual Passage East Festival transformed the harbour village into a hive of activity, laughter and community spirit. Organised by the Passage East and Crooke Development Association (PECDA), the festival welcomed families, friends and visitors from across Waterford and beyond for an afternoon packed with entertainment, music and activities for all ages. Children enjoyed bouncy castles, face painting, Playful Communities games and crab fishing, while the dog show proved another highlight of the afternoon. Throughout the day, raffle sales helped raise valuable funds to support future community initiatives. Live music was provided by Washed Out, followed by The Strobes, who rounded off the evening with a lively performance. The event also featured a community barbecue, pizza, refreshments and plenty of opportunities for neighbours and visitors to meet and socialise. Chairperson Margaret Julian Keane thanked all volunteers, sponsors, local businesses and supporters who helped make the day such a success. The association also acknowledged the support of Waterford City and County Council, Joule Credit Union, local businesses and community organisations, as well as funding raised through the Community Lotto at the New Geneva Bar. Organisers are already looking ahead to next year's festival.
Passage minors recorded an impressive 2-27 to 0-11 victory over Ballygunner in Division 3 on July 29. In Junior A hurling, Passage were defeated by Mount Sion on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-7 in Poleberry on July 24. In U16 hurling, Passage lost to Abbeyside/Ballinacourty by 3-16 to 2-14. Upcoming fixtures include U12s away to Lismore on August 4 at 6.30pm, U14 Division 1 at home to Tramore on August 6 at 6.30pm, a U9 blitz at home on August 12 at 6pm and a Munster Hurling Day trip to Semple Stadium for U10s and U11s on August 12.
The annual Passage Summer Camp will take place from August 10 to August 14, running daily from 10am to 2pm. The cost is €50 for one child, €80 for two children and €110 for three children. Every participant will receive a gift. Registrations will be taken in the clubhouse on August 4 and August 5 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
