Collaborative choir concert of Irish, Scottish and Danish musicians coming to Dungarvan
Participating in the concert are Scots Gaelic singer and TV presenter Joy Dunlop and Cóisir Alba, previous Eurovision contestants.
A unique concert featuring world-class singers and musicians from Ireland, Scotland and Denmark will take place in the Town Hall Theatre in Dungarvan on Friday, August 21.
Cumar na gCór, a confluence of choirs, will see local male voice choir Cór Fear na nDéise from the Waterford Gaeltacht perform with the renowned Scottish singer Joy Dunlop and her regional Scots Gaelic choir Còisir Alba in a concert celebrating Celtic music and tradition.
Danish/Irish famenco guitarist Louis Claxton will also make an appearance at the concert as a special guest.
In May last year, the male voice choir travelled to Scotland to perform with Scots Gaeilc singer Ms Dunlop.
Members of the cór also took part in Irish language singing glasses as part of the trip, through Conradh na Gaeilge.
Now on a return visit to Gaeltacht na nDéise, the men of Cór na nDéise will host Joy and her infamous Eurovision choir in Waterford, with the gala concert in Dungarvan's Town Hall Theatre being the highlight of the trip.

The excitement has already begun for Darren Ó Droma, founder and director of Cór Fear na nDéise, who said: “Cór Fear na nDéise is looking forward to sharing the stage with them here in Dungarvan to showcase our respective Celtic cultures.”
The Cumar na gCór concert is supported by Waterford City & County Council, whose Irish Officer, Máire Seó Breathnach is looking forward to this celebration of Celtic languages in Dungarvan.
“Cumar na gCór is part of Waterford City & County Council's Heritage Week programme of events and will be a wonderful way to celebrate our native Irish language, as well as our sister Celtic language, Scots Gaelic," she said.
“The event is also part of the Council’s cultural celebration of Ireland's presidency of the EU, through which Waterford is twinned with Denmark. Therefore, we are delighted to welcome Danish Flamenco guitarist Louis Claxton to Dungarvan. Louis will also perform at the concert, playing both modern and traditional flamenco, as well as his own compositions," she added.
Cumar na gCór will take place in the Town Hall Theatre, Dungarvan on Friday, August 21, at 8pm (doors at 7.30pm), with tickets costing €15 available on Eventbrite and at the door on the night.
