There has been an increase in the number of detections of driving while intoxicated across Waterford city and county.
That is according to an update issued by Waterford gardaí, who said there were 13 arrests from the 24th July 24 to August 3.
Of these, four drivers were found to have consumed alcohol above the legal limit and the remaining nine drivers tested positive for either cocaine, opiates, cannabis or benzodiazepines.
“There is no safe level for the consumption of these drugs while driving. They can stay in your system for days after consumption,” said a spokesperson for Waterford gardaí.
