The death sadly occurred on Sunday, August 25, of Mr Roger Moore, late of Coxtown, Dunmore East, Co Waterford, and formerly of London, UK. He is survived by his loving wife Rita, his loving daughters Andrea, Rachel and Helen; his adoring grandchildren Kieran and Olivia and the McGrath family. Roger will be forever and sadly missed by all his family, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends. As per Roger's wishes a private cremation service will take place at a later date. Condolences are extended to Roger’s family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

We are seeking play volunteers to support children and young people in University Hospital Waterford. As you can imagine, hospital can be a scary and stressful time, so our volunteers provide a space for fun and give them a positive experience. Waterford Older People’s Council will hold its Annual General Meeting in the Mary Strangman (Large Room) at City Hall, Waterford, on Wednesday, September 18. All are invited to the event which will take place from 2pm to 4pm. It will be chaired by the Older People’s Council Executive, Susan O’Connor and addressed by the Ombudsman, Ger Deering. Light refreshments will be provided for those attending the event. Information will also be provided at several stands located throughout the room.

The Solas Run and Walk for Life will return in October to the streets of Waterford City and Dungarvan. The event will take place in Dungarvan on Saturday, October 12, and in Waterford City on Sunday, October 13.
The 10K Run and Walk in Dungarvan will start at 10am at Walton Park while the event in Waterford City will begin, the following day, on the Quay. A new 4K family walk has been added to both Waterford and Dungarvan this year to encourage families to take part in tandem with the 10K routes. The popular virtual option is also available and workplaces are being encouraged to once again #GoOrangeForSolas. Registration is open online at www.solascentre.ie. The registration fee is €25 per adult and €15 per child. This fee includes a t-shirt and an event medal, kindly sponsored by Eirgen Pharma.

Waterford Libraries will be hosting a series of writing workshops across the county over the coming weeks. The programme will run from now until mid-December and will give participants an opportunity to attend courses in both Irish and English. The courses are free of charge and open to people over 18 years resident anywhere in the county. Application forms are also available at library desks.
Board Game Saturdays at Central Library are continuing so why not drop in for some family time playing board games every Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm. All welcome and under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.
St. Joseph & Benildus Church Art classes will be starting in September. Join Marcella Maher for six weeks of art classes beginning on Monday, September 16, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm in the Parish Centre. Explore the fundamentals of painting using acrylics. Learn to mix colours, landscapes, still life, and self-portraits. The cost is €80 and includes all materials. Waterford Sustainable Living Initiative will be showing participants how to make seed bombs with native Irish wildflower seeds while talking about pollinators, their crucial role in our ecosystem, how seeds grow and why native Irish wildflowers are so important.
