Local Notes: AED locations, bingo is coming, investment fund news and more

The upcoming bingo session in Ballymacarbry Community Centre will be in support of the Panda Playground Development fund
Our next bingo night will take place on Friday, April 18 (Good Friday). First call will be at 8pm as usual, so get down early to guarantee your seat. This will likely be our final bingo night until after the summer so its one not to be missed.

We are delighted to announce that our community centre here in Ballymacarbry will receive €89,681 under the 2024 Community Centre Investment Fund. This funding will help us to make continued improvements to the safety, energy efficiency, accessibility and usability of the centre, ensuring it remains a high standard community facility for Ballymacarbry and surrounding areas for years to come.
Classes continue in the centre each week and it plays host to spinning classes, fitness classes with Stephanie Byrne, badminton, Yoga classes with our local ‘Ciorcal Cairde’ group, WWETB classes (cookery, fitness and Smartphone/digital technology classes) along with all manner of classes and sports within our indoor astro-turf facility. If you are interested in any of the above, contact us here at the centre on 086 0328467 and we can put you in touch with the relevant group.
Ballymacarbry Community Centre is delighted to have recently donated our newly serviced AED, along with an AED cabinet, to Fourmilewater Church as well as an AED cabinet to the Nire Church and the servicing of its AED. Having these life-saving devices in such prominent community locations is essential for ensuring quick access in times of emergency. In our community, we are fortunate to have seven AEDs located at: Ballymacarbry Community Centre; Nire Church; Fourmilewater Church; FMW/Nire/BLGFC Dressing Rooms; Pinewood Healthcare; Ballymacarbry Central School and Fourmilewater Health Centre. Hopefully we never have to use them but it is reassuring to know these devices are available in case we do. Thank you to all who supported these efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community - “Is fearr an tsláinte ná na táinte.”
