Iconic rocker Jerry Fish leads line-up at Waterford Festival of Food

Indie-showman Jerry Fish together with his electric sideshow, will take centre stage at the Waterford Festival of Food, on Friday 19th of April.

The countdown to the 2024 Waterford Festival of Food is well underway with only a short time to wait until the return of festival weekend.

The event will blend live music, local restaurant pop-ups including at The Interlude, X35, Indian Ocean, and 2 Sisters, and a bar with local beer, cider, and spirits curated by Merry’s.

The festival’s opening night is set to rock Dungarvan town, as indie-showman Jerry Fish together with his electric sideshow, will take centre stage on Friday, April 19.

Jerry Fish is renowned as much for his showmanship as he is for his music. Fish is a carnival creator, circus ringmaster, playwright, singer, songwriter, and poet. Known for his genre-bending style, he brings music and showmanship to every event.

There will also be a local flavour to the music on the night with support act Under Starlings, an alternative rock group from Waterford who bring their own touch of euphoria and escapism.

Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Waterford, the group offer a captivating blend of reverb soaked melodies, dark distorted riffs and a pop rock undertone that defies easy categorization. influenced by acts like Biffy Clyro, The 1975, and U2, Under Starling describe their own sound as one 'that invokes euphoria while retaining a gritty edge.'

The ticket price for these acts includes access to the event space located at the carpark on Shandon Street, Dungarvan. Food and drink purchased at the event is a separate cost.

Also blending food and music, is the Supper Club in Lawlors, with late night music and tapas from 10pm on Friday, April 19, the perfect next stop to carry on the Friday night festival vibes

Taking place at The Interlude, is a selection of live jazz, alongside bloody mary oysters, and a brunch which includes sea-gardener hash browns, local pork and bacon, free range eggs, and Dun bakery sourdough. 

Meanwhile at Mezze, belly dancing, vibrant colours, and flavourful dishes like falafels, dips, and salads inspired by the Middle East. Stacey McPartlin, an acclaimed fusion belly dancer, adds an extra layer of entertainment to the dining.

Now in its 15th year, Waterford Festival of Food takes place from Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21, centered around the scenic harbour town of Dungarvan. 

Visitors can expect pop-up dinners from visiting chefs, food tours, storytelling, a full children’s programme, guided foraging both land and sea, farm visits, live cooking demos in atypical locations, music, dancing, live bands and one of Ireland’s largest outdoor markets.
