An official from the environment section told councillors there is currently no biodiversity officer as part of a response to a query on approach road maintenance

Waterford City and County Council do not currently have a biodiversity officer.

That is according to an official from the environment section at the March sitting of the Dungarvan-Lismore District Council.

The official was responding to a query from the Cathaoirleach, Cllr Niamh O’Donovan, who asked that approach roads into towns and villages are better maintained.

She said that everyone is aware of biodiversity initiatives, but asks that the council make the public more aware of how areas are chosen.

“Those approaches are really important. We are very proud of our towns and villages, and there is only so much our Tidy Towns can do,” said Cllr O’Donovan.

The official said she would raise it in the environment section.
