Obituary: Great sadness at death of young Waterford city woman
The late Brenda Lonergan.
There was great sadness in Waterford city at the death of 38-year-old Brenda Lonergan.
Brenda, of Brindle Close, Summerfields, Waterford city, sadly passed away on Saturday, December 13.
A vibrant, popular young woman, Brenda was loved by many. She cared for her local community by giving back to Waterford.
Brenda worked closely with Central Arts Waterford, where she did charity work for suicide awareness.
She was an integral part of Electronic Waterford, organising bookings, curating some of their nights, and giving opportunities to many young DJs to build an audience and a platform.

Brenda was an avid artist. She developed her own artistic style, and she also designed merchandise in her spare time.
Electronic Waterford will be organising a charity night in memory of Brenda, supported by Central Arts Waterford. More details will be announced in the coming months.
Brenda reposed at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Waterford city, on Monday, December 15. Her funeral took place on Tuesday, December 16. Brenda’s funeral cortege walked from Thompson’s Funeral Home, to her Requiem Mass at Ballybricken Church at 10:30am.
Brenda will be privately cremated on a later date.
She will be sadly missed by many, including her partner Aidan, parents Maura and Bob, sister Rose, brother Robbie, brother-in-law Davey, aunt Margaret, uncle John, nieces Robin and Georgia, extended family and relatives, and all of her friends, particularly Carmel, Donna, Susan, Kris, Whitney, Bolger, and Darren.
Instead of flowers, the family asked for donations to Rare Diseases Ireland. RDI is a national alliance for rare disease patient organisations in Ireland. They work to improve the lives of the estimated 30,000 people with rare diseases living in Ireland.
Their objective is to raise the voices of those who have or are at risk of developing a rare disease. You can donate on their website www.rdi.ie.
