Waterford City & County Council has completed extensive clean-up operations at the Old Jute Factory site in Waterford City, which was the location of an extensive fire on Saturday, May 9.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "Extensive clean-up operations in the vicinity of Tycor were completed over the weekend, with all roads, foothpaths, rooftops, and front and back gardens in the vicinity cleared."

She said Tycor Avenue, Griffith Place and Ard na Greine have now fully reopened to the public.

"The clean-up works were methodically carried out by trained asbestos personnel using controlled methods, with all materials removed for safe disposal," said the spokesperson.

"Waterford City and County Council would like to thank members of the public for their patience and cooperation throughout the duration of the remediation works," she added.
