Clean-up in Waterford village is a great success

There was great excitement recently in one rural area of County Waterford when the annual community clean-up took place.
The event happened in Tourin towards the end of last month and in addition to being an event that benefited the community aesthetically it was also an opportunity for people to get together socially.

As with many areas of the country rubbish dumped in hedgerows was visible around the locality and the organisers of the clean-up encouraged people to tidy up their "own patch" from the effects of others discarding their rubbish in an unsavoury way.
Following the event those involved availed of a nice cuppa and a chat. Among the local areas covered by the initiative were Tourin Hall to Coople's Quay and along the Quay to gateway, Tourin Hall to Cappoquin Graveyard and from the graveyard to the Red Bridge and from there to Kilbree and on to McGrath's Corner.

Another area covered was from the hall to Kilahala Cross and along the Warren.
Camphire and Camphire Hill, Lismore Convent and the Deerpark Road to Ballinwillin were other areas targeted.

As one of those involved commented: "The rubbish is our focus and the social aspect is a bonus."
