The death has sadly occurred on Sunday, April 28, of Mrs. Elizabeth (Liz) Kavanagh (née: Doherty), The Mount, Cheekpoint, Co. Waterford. Predeceased by her loving sisters and brothers Jim, Brigid, Eileen, Matt and Andy and her daughter-in-law Jeanette, she is survived by her loving family Kevin, June, Eileen and Dermot, sister-in-law Rita, grandchildren Clare, James, Liam, Lauren, Paul Niall, Adam and Rory, great-grandchildren Thomas and Cillian, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Elizabeth will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place in St. Nicholas' Church, Faithlegg, on Wednesday, May 1, at 11.30am. Burial took place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Elizabeth family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

The most important sunrise of the year takes place on Saturday, May 11, at 4.15am when the Darkness Into Light walk will begin from the Regional Sports Centre on the Cork Road. To register go to www.darknessintolight.ie and come along and support an amazing free service that helps people living with suicide ideation, or family members that have lost a loved one to suicide.

St. John of God School Service of Remembrance will be a special gathering that will take place on Wednesday, May 8, St. Paul’s Parish Hall, Lisduggan. This event is dedicated to honoring and remembering those lost due to substance use and related causes. This heartfelt occasion is a joint effort by the South East Regional Family Support Network and St. Paul’s Parish. The event will celebrate the lives of those departed, featuring music and reflection, followed by light refreshments. All are warmly invited to this space of remembrance and support.
Free professional support services are available to those affected by cancer, their families and carers in the Waterford and West Waterford area. A wide range of services are available including counselling, wellness therapies, meditation, yoga and art psychotherapy for children and adolescents. A bereavement support evening with Brid Carroll will take place on Monday, May 13, at 7pm. A gentle information session hosted by a leading specialist in the area grief and loss 051 304604 or info@solascentre.ie to register your interest. A look good feel better support group for men will take place on Thursday, May 30, from 2pm to 4pm. The group is facilitated and supported by a male counsellor and will include outdoor activities of interest such as gardening, excursions, leisure interests. The group meets every Tuesday throughout the year from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The Solas Waterford choir meets on Tuesday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
The Solas Cancer Support Centre Primary School Bereavement programme for May is now open for registration. This free education programme will help guide teachers in supporting bereaved children in their schools and classrooms. The two-dayy online course is scheduled for Thursday, May 16 and Thursday, May 30. Award winning poet and author, Elaine Feeney will be in conversation with Fiona Foskin, discussing her work in Ardkeen Library on Saturday May 11, at 3pm. This is a free event but booking is required by contacting Ardkeen Library on 051 849755. Space is limited so book early. The Baby and Me Group meets in Ardkeen Library on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 12pm.
Tales and Rhymes takes place in the library on Fridays from 10.30am to 12pm. Children under 12 years must be accompanied and supervised in the library by a parent/guardian. All welcome.
A Draughts Club for adults takes place on Thursdays, at 10.30am in Ardkeen Library. Drop in an all welcome.
