What's on in Waterford March/April

Lafcadio Hearn's Japanese Gardens, Tramore

Luke Thomas & The Swing Cats

March 22, Theatre Royal, €30.

Luke Thomas and his band The Swing Cats are coming to Waterford on their Kings of Swing Tour. The group are back with a brand new show celebrating 100 years of Swing music with a musical timeline of classics from the 1920’s to the modern day. As seen on The Late Late Show, Ireland Am, The Today Show, The Six O Clock Show, the group have acquired two number one albums, three TV Concert Specials and seven personally requested performances for President Higgins.

Forest Bathing

March 23, Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens Tramore, €20.

Drawing on the ancient Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku, or forest bathing, this event is designed to connect guests with nature. Unlike what the name might suggest, forest bathing doesn't require any actual immersion in water. Rather, the practice encourages participants to become more attuned to the surrounding natural environment, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells. The Lafcadio Hearn gardens contain American, Greek, and Japanese gardens, in addition to a stream garden, ponds, waterfall and an extensive woodland area, featuring Japanese plants and authentic architectural features, all built and planted in house.

Walk for Life

March 26, SETU Arena, €5.

The aim of the ‘Walk for Life’ series is to give people the opportunity to create links with others in their locality and experience some of the walks that Waterford County has to offer. The series has already introduced participants to picturesque points of the Waterford Greenway, at Bilberry, Clonea and Suir Valley. The upcoming fourth walk takes place at SETU Arena’s new walking track, with refreshments afterwards.

Mack Fleetwood

April 19, The Haven Hotel Dunmore East, €26 Europe’s premier tribute to the supergroup Fleetwood Mac, bewitch with authentic renditions of all their biggest hits. Mack Fleetwood are selling out major music venues across the country, such as the Dublin Olympia, and Cork Opera House, enthralling crowds and receiving rave reviews. Early booking is advised to see the tribute band’s first visit to Dunmore East for over a year. Free buses back to Waterford City after the show.
