Two choirs from two neighbouring counties in the south east, Wexford Festival Singers and Waterford's Notable Works Choir, have joined forces to perform two exciting concerts.

The first of the two concerts took place last Sunday November 9, in the National Opera House in Wexford.

The concert was a celebration of Wexford Festival Singers 50th Anniversary.

The second performance will take place on November 30, at 8pm in St. John’s Church, Parnell Street, Waterford.

The concert will bring together 130 choir members, with soloists Rόisin O’Grady (Soprano) and Eoin Power (Baritone), along with an orchestra of 42 musicians and Dr. Kevin O’Carroll conducting.

The group will perform Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem).

"Having the rare opportunity to sing the Brahms Requiem as part of a large-scale choir, along with a 42 piece orchestra, is very exciting," said Lynn Cahill, of Notable Works Choir.

"It has been a wonderful experience having the two choirs from neighbouring counties come together to make it happen."

Notable Works is a choir based in Waterford City, with members from all over Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford and Tipperary.

Twice a year, they come together to sing large-scale choral works, often collaborating with other choirs.

Previous performances include Handel’s Messiah, The Creation by Haydn, The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins, and Fauré’s Requiem.

Speaking on last week's concern in Wexford, Chairperson of Wexford Festival Singers, Louise Gaffney Wilkinson, said: "It is such a magnificent opportunity as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, to sing Brahms Requiem in the National Opera House."
