Rebel, Roots and Bluegrass in the forest at Comeragh's Wild

The Cedartowns will be performing at this year's Comeragh's Wild Festival.

A riverside open-air concert featuring top musicians is taking place at this year’s Comeragh’s Wild Festival.

‘Fenton’s Rebel, Roots and Bluegrass Bash’ takes place in the heart of the Nire Valley, with fun, food and a concert in the forest.

Made Mike, Jack Colbert, Rising Tide and The Cedartowns are set to perform at the event.

It will be a new addition to the Comeragh's Wild programme and those attending are invited to bring along a fold-up chair or blanket and make a day of it.

Jack Colbert has been gigging since 2017 all over the country and abroad. Playing a unique blend of Irish folk favourites and pub songs with the aim of creating an atmosphere full of craic.

Rising Tide is a dynamic two-piece band from County Waterford, specializing in a diverse array of music, including Irish traditional, ballads, rebel songs and country music.

The duo comprises of long-time friends Edward and Jim, who have both played in various bands over the years, who decided to join forces a few years ago to create their own group. Since then, they have been captivating audiences in venues large and small across the South East.

Made up of Mary and Michele Nugent, Tom Kenna, Andrew Kennedy, Seamus Hayes and Brendan Hunter, The Cedartowns blend influences of blues, folk and pop sensibilities into a distinct and exciting new sound with well-crafted original songs featuring the blood harmonies of Mary and Michele, complemented by excellent musicianship.

A popular band on the festival scene, The Cedartowns have brought their dynamic song-writing to the likes of the Gravity Festival, The Junction Festival, Clonacody House, Clonmel Busking, Clonmel Applefest, When Next We Meet and Cashel Arts festivals.

They have played to sell-out gigs at the Clonmel and Portlaw Folk Clubs, Bunmahon Geopark, Sugarclub Dublin and, in 2017, played support to Anuna and Jack Lukeman at the Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre.

In 2018, the band released their debut EP Shelter, followed by single releases Appletown in 2019 and Cold Feet in 2021. With the addition of Brendan Hunter on drums, in 2022 they released recordings of new material, which have become staples in their live sets. Currently The Cedartowns are working on two new tracks set for release in autumn of 2024.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 13. Tickets cost €20 and are available to purchase online at Eventbrite.ie.
