What's on in Waterford
Currently embarking on their Get Active Tour, The Donnys will be playing in Waterford this month. The five piece rock and roll group from Kilkenny, are an ever growing musical force, having already secured supporting slots with Irish musical legends such as Kerbdog, The Undertones and The Stunning. Since finishing their educational endeavours last summer, they’ve embarked on over 25 shows in three months, spanning Kilkenny, Wexford, Waterford, Laois, Cork, Drogheda and Dublin. Among these were two performances at Electric Picnic. The band will be supported by local groups Aliens In Caves and No Hassle on the night.

Throughout his singing career, Joe Dolan became known for his energetic and charismatic stage performances which thrilled audiences throughout the world. To celebrate Joe’s life, his family are on tour with their show ‘Remembering Joe’. Joe’s brother Ben who shared the stage with his younger brother for 47 fun-filled years, will highlight Joe’s successful singing career. He will be joined on stage by Joe’s Niece Sandra, nephews Adrian and Ray, with Singer Karen Carroll and members of Joe’s original backing band.

Featuring Irish pianist Frank McNamara and the violin artistry of special guest Deirdre Reddy, a special event taking place in City Hall this month which will feature the music of Mozart by the light of almost a thousand candles. Mr McNamara, celebrated for his virtuosity and emotive interpretations, will weave his magic on the piano, whilst the talented Deirdre Reddy, whose mastery of the violin will add a new dimension to the performance.

In aid of Down Syndrome Waterford & South Kilkenny Branch, 125km & 80km cycle events which start and finish at SETU Arena will be taking place this May. Cyclists will depart with a rolling start from 9am, with route details emailed to participants before the event.

Dónal Clancy is regarded as one of Ireland’s finest guitarists. He is the son of the world renowned singer Liam Clancy of The Clancy Brothers and has since the death of his father focused his attention on the family repertoire of songs that he grew up with, while keeping the Clancy tradition alive with his solo performances. His father gave him his first guitar at the age of eight and he was playing professionally by his early teens. A founder member of the group Danú, Dónal subsequently left to join a trio with his father Liam and cousin Robbie O'Connell.

Mana, Strong Boys & Special Branch will be playing in Luca Records & Decks this coming May. All ages are welcome for a thunderous night full of fast, aggressive and heavy punk music.
