Waterford's Granville Hotel restaurant among TripAdvisor's top 1% worldwide

Waterford’s Granville Hotel is celebrating international recognition after its Bianconi Restaurant was named among the top 1% of restaurants worldwide in Tripadvisor’s 2026 awards.

The restaurant received a Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Award for 2026, while the hotel’s Thomas Francis Meagher Bar was also recognised with a Travellers’ Choice Award, placing it among the top 10% worldwide.

The awards are based on feedback and reviews submitted by travellers who have visited the businesses.

The recognition comes during a successful year for the Granville Hotel, which was also recently included in the Irish Independent’s Hot 100 Hotels in Ireland for 2026.

The hotel’s breakfast offering, including its local organic porridge, was among the features highlighted in that listing.

Granville Hotel general manager Michael Skehan said the latest awards were a reflection of the work carried out by staff across the hotel.

“We are absolutely delighted to see both the Bianconi Restaurant and Thomas Francis Meagher Bar recognised by Tripadvisor this year,” he said.

“For Bianconi Restaurant to be placed among the Top 1% worldwide is an exceptional achievement, and to have the Thomas Francis Meagher Bar recognised among the Top 10% worldwide makes this particularly special for everyone at the Granville.” 

Mr Skehan said the accolades reflected the efforts of the hotel’s chefs, kitchen, restaurant and bar staff, as well as employees across the wider hotel.

He said the Granville’s approach remained focused on quality food, warm service, consistency and value for money, with local and Irish produce playing an important role.

“To receive this recognition from Tripadvisor, alongside our recent inclusion in the Irish Independent Hot 100 Hotels, is a tremendous endorsement for the entire team,” he said.

“Most importantly, we would like to thank our guests. Their continued support, their recommendations and the time they take to share their experiences are hugely appreciated by all of us.” 

Located on Meagher’s Quay in Waterford city, the Granville has a long association with hospitality and food in the city.

Its food offering ranges from breakfast and traditional carvery lunch to bar food in the Thomas Francis Meagher Bar and evening dining in the Bianconi Restaurant.

The hotel works with Waterford and Irish suppliers and producers where possible, with both traditional dishes and contemporary options forming part of its menus.

The latest awards add to a strong year for the Granville and provide further international recognition for Waterford’s hospitality offering.
