The incident, which happened around 10:20am on the Carrickphierish Road, led to the driver of the car being brought to hospital, a Garda spokesperson confirmed to the Waterford News & Star.

The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 60s, was conveyed to hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening, this newspaper was told, with no other injuries reported at the scene.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision yesterday morning, where a stop-and-go traffic management system was reportedly in operation in the area for some time.
