The driver was caught driving at 133km/h in an 80km/h speed zone

Keelan Dunne (25), with an address at 18 Meadowbrook, Tramore, received five penalty points and was ordered to pay a €500 fine within four months following excessive speeding.

Dunne was caught driving at 133km/hr on the Tramore Road (Coolgower) on May 1, 2025. The speed limit on the road is 80km/hr.

Dunne did not appear in District Court, with his solicitor Ken Cunningham pleading guilty on his behalf.

The court heard that Dunne drives for a living. He had been issued with six previous convictions, four of which related to the Road Traffic Act.

Convictions included driving without insurance and driving a defective vehicle. Dunne had no previous convictions for speeding or careless driving.

Mr Cunningham said that his client had a large number of children.

Mr Cunningham argued that a decision that would take Dunne off the road and affect his income would have an adverse effect on the children’s upbringing.
