Local volleyball team are honoured with prestigious reception following national title triumph

Dungarvan College’s boys’ volleyball team were invited for a special reception at the Civic Offices last week, in recognition of their outstanding achievement of winning the All-Ireland Senior Cup.

The team became the first Waterford school to ever claim an ‘A’ school volleyball title.

Cathaoirleach of the Dungarvan/Lismore Municipal District, Cllr John Pratt, described the feat as a “remarkable achievement.” 

He congratulated each of the players, captain Zak Musa, vice-captain Alan Drummey, and all who have trained with the team over the years.

“I would also like to acknowledge the dedication of Mr. Jason Ryan, Ms. Caroline Ryan, Mr. Mark Fitzsimons and Ms. Avril Dunne” Cllr Pratt said.

“Your determination, teamwork and commitment have made everyone incredibly proud.

“We wish you every success in the future, and we look forward to seeing what you achieve next.”
