Obituary: Remembering Lisduggan's Miriam Chester formerly of Waterford Crystal and Londis Cleaboy

The late Miriam Chester
Miriam Chester (nee Mullally) of Willow Park, Ashley Court, Waterford city, sadly passed away on May 15, 2025, following a short illness.
Born in April 1964 to Margaret and Laurence Mullally, Miriam was sister to Linda, Joan and Laurence. Miriam was predeceased by her parents.
She lived in Central Avenue, Lisduggan, before she moved to Ashley Court when she married her husband Mick.
She was a wonderful wife to Mick Chester and an amazing mother to her sons Jack and Ian.
Miriam was a loving and caring person, who always put her family first. She was known for her quick wit and love of fashion.
She loved her coffee long before it was fashionable. She sat in many a dug-out at Roanmore GAA matches supporting her boys.
Her lack of hurling knowledge used to drive them both insane. The first question she would always ask was, “How many goals did Jack concede?” but she was always Jack and Ian's no. 1 supporter.

Miriam worked in Kromberg & Schubert, Waterford Crystal and Londis Freshways in Cleaboy, and would still regularly meet up with people she worked with for a catch-up.
Miriam had many groups of friends whether it was work colleagues, school friends, best friends, and even family; there was never a night out she would want to miss!
Miriam had great time for all her family and friends, where she loved to keep up with the latest news, always trying to make time for everyone.
Miriam had a love of travel, from sun holidays to city breaks, having recently returned from a Mediterranean cruise.
There was always somewhere for Miriam to travel to, Miriam would always tell her boys to “book the flight and enjoy yourself, life is too short to be sitting at home”.
The news came at Christmas that she was going to be a grandmother, then followed the news that it was a grand-daughter – Miriam was forever hoping for a little girl as she was always surrounded by men. It was all she could talk about for the last couple of months, constantly looking at baby clothes to dress her up!
Her family vowed to make sure Miriam's memory will live on through her granddaughter for years to come.
After reposing at Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Waterford city, Miriam's Requiem Mass took place at St Paul's Church, Lisduggan, on Monday, May 19, followed by burial in Kilbarry Cemetery.
Miriam will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her husband, sons, daughter-in-law, sisters, brother, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and all her close friends and work colleagues. May she rest in peace.
Mick, Jack, Ian & Aoife
