Journi Credit Union held its first-ever AGM on Wednesday, January 28, at the Tower Hotel.
The Credit Union was created as a merger between St. Dominic and Waterford Credit Unions in September 2025.
Journi described the merger as “a transformative moment in the history of community finance in the region.”
The merger saw five branches, 60,000 members and an asset base of more than €336 million combine.
The credit union’s loan book now totals over €84m with arrears of 3%. €991,471 was returned to members in dividends at a return rate of 0.4%
“This time last year, Waterford and St. Dominic’s were two separate credit unions, each proud of their history and firmly rooted in their communities,” said Journi Credit Union Chairperson Tim O’Byrne.
“Today, we stand together as one.”
Mr O’Byrne said a growth in income, lending and reserves pointed to the success of the merger.
The credit union’s base covers Waterford City, Tramore and South Kilkenny.
Journi said it was committed to supporting community initiatives and strengthening its ethos of “people helping people”.
