Scouting stalwart Bernie Rogers has received a coveted Mayoral Reception, in recognition of her outstanding dedication and service to scouting for over four decades.
The reception was hosted by outgoing Mayor of Waterford, Cllr Seamus Ryan, in City Hall, where Bernie was presented with a scroll from the Mayor and a 40 Year Service Award from Scouting Ireland in recognition of her service.

Bernie’s scouting journey began with the 127th Dublin Scout Group, where she started as an Assistant Club Leader.
Through her commitment, enthusiasm, and leadership, she progressed to Unit Leader within just six years.
“Even after moving to Waterford, Bernie never lost sight of what lies at the heart of scouting, supporting and inspiring young people at local level," the Mayor said.

Over the years, she has taken on many significant roles, including eight years as Area Training Co-Ordinator for the South East Field and serving as International Commissioner, where she worked tirelessly to build relationships with scout associations across the world.
Her work in this area has strengthened scouting both at home and internationally.

This year alone, Bernadette continues to make an extraordinary contribution.
As Programme Co-Ordinator for the 75th Anniversary Camp in Larch Hill, she is helping to create memorable experiences for hundreds of young people, and shortly afterwards she will once again play a key role on staff at the Melvin in Mount Melleray.
During the special occasion in City Hall, Mayor Ryan said that Bernie has made a remarkable contribution to scouting and to the young people whose lives she has touched over many years of dedicated service.
