This year’s honour for turning on the lights was handed to Kill NS’s under 13 girls, under 13 boys and under 10 girls football teams who all won county titles this year.

The event continued in the community centre where a kids' disco took place, with excitement reaching peak levels when Santa arrived.

A spokesperson from Kill Action Group expressed thanks to those who helped with the preparation of the village's beautiful crib and Christmas tree, to the Corcoran family for the use of the carpark and to Kill GAA Club who are funding the lights.

Whilst Fr Desmond was unavailable to bless the crib on the night, he graciously stepped out on Sunday, December 8, to carry out this duty for the community.

A big thank you was also expressed to Kill Community Centre and Michelle Byrnes, who cancelled her class to facilitate the festive evening, so that DJ Stephen could roll out the festive tunes.

Photographer Kate McGrath captured the many special moments on the night.

The Irish Coast Guard blue-lighted Santa’s arrival again this year, and the presence of the Irish Red Cross was appreciated by the community.

Kill's very own Santa arrived on the night in a lit-up tractor thanks to Kieran Dunphy.

A Kill Action Group spokesperson said: "Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make our now annual Christmas night such a great success.

"Our committee members and our Tús worker have worked tirelessly all year round for the betterment of our village, please know that every effort is much appreciated."
