Visit Waterford was delighted to announce the winner of a brand new photography competition for Waterford at a special ceremony in Mount Congreve Gardens.

The Mayor of Waterford City & County, Cllr. Jason Murphy congratulated winner, Amy Perdue, for her winning picture called "Clonea Bay Paraglider", a stunning image, which shows a paraglider high above Clonea beach.

In deciding to create the competition, the organisers knew that Waterford was a picture-perfect destination for a great deal of wonderful photographic opportunities. These would offer locals the opportunity to dive into capturing images of our historic features, our coastline, our fantastic food, the wilds of Waterford and more.

A spokesperson said, “It was wonderful to see the variety of interpretations that resulted from the #DiveIntoWaterford photography competition over the summer.”

Finalists were selected at the beginning of September and contacted once they submitted a high-resolution copy of their image via email, along with their details.

The top 30 images were posted on Visit Waterford's Facebook page for a public voting period to select the winning image for the 2024 Visit Waterford photography competition.

In addition, the finalist’s images were hosted in a public exhibition at Mount Congreve Gardens in Waterford this month, where the finalists were invited to an occasion and the winner announced.

The winner was awarded a wonderful overnight stay at Dooley’s Hotel in Waterford plus a day out for themselves and three of their friends so that they can dive into all that Waterford has to offer.

They will be treated to a tasty and adventurous day out in Waterford, beginning in the city with four 'Freedom of Waterford' passes from Waterford Treasures.

This will be followed by 'Brunch for Four' at The Stables Cafe at Mount Congreve Gardens, with a jaunt to Tramore after brunch to enjoy the exquisite Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens.

To top it off they will spend an adrenalin-filled afternoon at the Dunmore East Adventure Centre, rounding off a jam-packed day of activities with a delicious dinner for four at East Pier in Dunmore East.
