Late Thomas Lodge

It is with regret we record the passing of former Waterford Crystal worker, Thomas Lodge, late of Thorndale, Old Crobally Road, Tramore, and formerly of St. Carthage's Avenue, Waterford who died on Saturday, September 21, peacefully at UHW. Thomas is predeceased by his beloved parents May and Thomas and his sister Pat and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret, his loving children Sharon, Thomas, Denice and Ciara; his adoring grandchildren Matthew, Niall, Erin, Amy, Oisín, Ríoghan, Holly, Fionn, Lydia and also Stephanie and Kevin; his sons-in-law Richie, Seán, John-Paul and his daughter-in-law Kay; his sister Bernie, his brother Anthony and his sister-in-law Mary. He will be forever missed by all his nieces and nephews, all his relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours and many friends. Having reposed at Falconer’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, Thomas was laid to rest in Fenor Cemetery, on Wednesday morning after Requiem Mass at The Church of the Holy Cross, Tramore.

Tramore's Stagemad for Waterford's Imagine Arts Festival

The talented cast, of Evie Burke, Greta Rochford, Charlie Maher, Jake Penkert and Gerry Kane bring the characters to life with depth and authenticity, captivating the audience with their compelling portrayals in unforgettable performances. 

,James who is the director of the play, said, "This production is a a tale that resonates with the universal themes of love, loss, and redemption, and we are eager to share it with our audience."

Tidy Towns

Tidy Towns were blown away with the turn out for our Vitamin Sea beach clean, we were joined by Amgen staff from Waterford and many more. It was fantastic to see so many young children turn up with parents, also many more from around Tramore. All were welcome and Tidy Towns are on the beach every Sunday from 10-11am, all new members welcome. 

Eddie's Bench Unveiled

Tramore Rangers Football Club wishes to thank everyone who attended the unveiling of “𝗘𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲’𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵” in memory of the club’s much-loved colleague, Eddie Dunphy at The Orchard grounds recently to mark the first anniversary of his passing. The club are especially grateful to Eddie’s wife Angela who donated and presented this beautiful and fitting tribute to his memory. 

Angela spoke of her late husband's deep affection for and loyalty to Tramore Rangers, having been a wholly committed player, manager, committee member and officer for 45 years until his untimely death in September 2023. Eddie, she said, was synonymous with Rangers and would have been so proud that his beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Judith, were there to unveil the granite memorial. The gathering of Eddie's nearest and dearest included his mother, Nell, sisters Theresa and Linda, brother Anthony, and members of Angela’s family, including her son Derek. They, along with clubmates and friends, heard Chairman Gary Power say it was hard to believe 12 months had elapsed since Ed's passing.

Karate Classes

Tramore Community Centre in Riverstown is now offering karate classes every Monday and Thursday. Participants can choose to attend either one day or both. The Monday Sessions for ages 6 to 12; 5.30pm (45 minutes) and the Adults and older kids: 6.30pm (60 minutes). The Thursday Sessions for ages 6 to 12; 4.30pm (45 minutes) and Adults and older kids: 5.15pm (60 minutes). Booking is required. To reserve a spot or for more information, call or text 086 1580336.

Late Michael Fardey

The death took place of Michael Fardey, on Thursday, September 19, at UHW. Late of Elm Park, Tramore, and formerly of Railway Square, Waterford, Michael will be sadly missed by his wife Eileen, his daughters Miriam and Deirdre; his grandchild Isabel, his brother Dominick, his nieces Elaine, Sheena and Emma; his nephew Colin and his sister-in-law Phil Walsh and son-in-law Karim. A former employee of Bell Lines, he was also a member of the Guillamene Swimming Club. He was laid to rest after his Requiem Mass at the Church of the Holy Cross on Monday, September 23.

Garda Centenary Medal

Recently at Tramore Garda Station the family of the late Garda Denis O’Sullivan (RIP) were presented with the Garda Centenary Medal in honour of his service. Garda O’Sullivan was stationed at Tramore Garda Station from 1935 to 1948. He also received a bravery award from the then Garda Commissioner in 1925. Garda O’Sullivan’s daughter Olive and grandson Brian (serving Garda member) were presented with a Centenary medal by Inspector Denis Murphy and Sgt Edwin Flynn at Tramore Garda Station.

Car Seat Safety

The Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) free Check it Fits Service is visiting Tramore this week. On Wednesday, October 2, in the Tesco Tramore car park there will be free expert service, which aims to put parent’s and guardian’s minds at ease that their child’s car seat is safely and securely fitted in their car. Our service is open from 10am – 5:30pm at each location and there is no need to book any appointment, just arrive during those times on the day. 

If Wednesday is not suitable, the service will be provided on Thursday, October 3, in Smyth's Toy Store, Tramore Road, Waterford from 10am – 5.30pm.

Free Bulky Goods

Waterford City & County Council have a free bulky goods amnesty day for large items such as couches, mattresses, beds and furniture for domestic householders only at 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 (Old Civic Amenity Site) on 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 19, open from 10am to 1pm on the day. The only items accepted are upholstered furniture, couches, armchairs and three-piece suites, wardrobes, bedside lockers, bedframes, mattresses, dining tables and chairs. Unfortunately, items that will not be accepted are construction and demolition waste, waste electrical items, hazardous waste, bags of household waste etc, toys / trampolines etc, ceramic items.

Mass Time Changes

Holy Cross Church in Tramore has announced changes to its Mass schedule, effective from the weekend of October 4th and 5th. The Saturday Vigil Mass will now be held at 7.30pm. Sunday services will be reduced from three to two, taking place at 8.30am and 11.00am. Weekday morning Masses, from Monday to Saturday, will be at 10.00am, while the 7.30am weekday Masses will be discontinued.
