Local Notes: Sympathies, local lotto, community clean-up and much more
Sliabh gCua/St.Mary’s players enjoying their recent win with Clancy Construction/Clantech in the Munster Inter-Firm Intermediate Hurling Final against Clare Construction.
We extend our sympathy to the Byrne and Murphy families on the recent passing of Breda Byrne (née: Murphy), Coolnasmear. Breda is predeceased by her husband Tom, her son Peter and granddaughter Amy. We extend our sincere sympathy to her children, Roger, Paul, Mary, Kieran and Julie, daughters-in-law, Jackie, Lorraine, and Deirdre, son-in-law Neil, grandchildren, Eoin, Emer, Ruth, Tom, Thomas, Emma, Liam, Peter, Micheál, Jack, David and Aidan, her brothers, sisters, extended family and friends. Requiem mass for Breda was in St. Gobnait’s Church, Kilgobinet, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. May Breda rest in peace.
The numbers drawn in the most recenr draw were 5,6,27 and there was no jackpot winner. The five x €20 winners were Aine Walsh, Helen Martin, Tom Foley, Paddy Dalton and Jim McGrath. Marian Cliffe won the promoter’s prize. Next weeks jackpot is €1,400.
A reminder about the Sliabh gCua community clean up at 10am on Easter Monday, April 6, commencing at the Sliabh gCua Community Centre. Equipment will be provided. All are welcome to join in.
We extend our sympathy to the Hallinan and Kelly families on the recent passing of Sheila Hallinan (nee: Kelly), Newcastle and formerly St Patrick’s Street, Kilkenny. Sheila was predeceased by her parents Dick and Bridie and her infant daughter Laura. We extend our sincere sympathy to her husband Michael (Mikey), children Frank, Emmet, Johnny, Claire O'Brien, Katie and Ray and their spouses and partners, Karen, Ailish, Jacqui, Martin and Gearoid, grandchildren Emily, Mikey, Sile-Mae, Peadar, Fergus, Billy, Mikey and Killian, sisters Patricia Kelly, Brigid Dooley, Margaret Butler, Kathleen Foley and Sr. Mary Leo, and her brother Edward, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family and many neighbours and friends. Requiem mass was in Our Lady of the Assumption, Newcastle, followed by cremation at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork. May Sheila rest in peace.
Live Stations of the Cross will be held on Good Friday at St Peter's and Paul's Church, Clonmel at 7.30pm.
Congratulations to Clancy Construction/Clantech on their recent win in the Munster Inter-Firm Intermediate hurling final against Clare Construction. Clancy Construction/Clantech 5-12, Clare Construction 2-15. It was a fabulous game of hurling despite the atrocious weather conditions at UL Maguires, with Clancy Construction/Clantech being deserving winners on the night. The winning team had local players Jason Sheehan, Mike Kearns and Gearoid Hallinan with Mike contributing a fabulous 3-1 on their way to victory.
