Sympathies

It is with deep sadness we record the death of Tom Foley, Knockrour, Stradbally Co Waterford. Tom passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at University Hospital Waterford, on Thursday, January 30.

Tom was predeceased by his parents Mick and Mary, his son Paul, brothers Michael, John, Dec, sisters Mary, Kathleen, Biddy and Anne.

He is deeply mourned by his loving wife Ellen, son Kieran, daughter Claire, son-in-law Michael, daughter-in-law Yvonne, grandchildren Aoibhin, Ciara, Liam, Caelan, Millie, Tadhg, and Lillian, nieces, nephews, extended family neighbours and his many friends. Reposing took place at Drohan's Funeral Home, Dungarvan on Saturday, February 1, from 5pm to 7pm.

The Funeral Mass was held on Sunday, February 2, at 12 noon, at Holy Cross Church, Stradbally. Tom's funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Michael Enright who was later assisted by Fr. Edmond Cullinan PP, Stradbally, at the final prayers.

The beautiful singing during the mass was provided by Robert Weldon and Sharon Cunningham. Symbols of Tom's life were brought to the altar before mass began: the Stradbally Flag; a deck of cards. a family picture; a photo of Tom; his business card; a plant and pot of carrot seed. After communion Stephen Griffin read a poem he composed titled, 'Big Tom from Stradbally', which was received with huge applause from the congregation.

Tom's son, Kieran Foley delivered a fitting Eulogy giving details of his fathers involvement in GAA, politics, business, drama and family life. Following the final prayers Tom's remains were carried to his resting place in the adjoining cemetery.

A graveside Oration was delivered by his lifelong friend Tom Cunningham, followed by Robert Weldon singing one of Tom's favourite ballads. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Ellen, daughter Claire, son Kieran, son-in-law Michael, daughter-in-law Yvonne, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, the McGrath family, High St., extended family, neighbours and friends. May Tom rest in peace.
