Last Saturday, despite battling hard to the final whistle, Sliabh gCua were beaten by a strong Tramore side in the intermediate football county final. It has truly been a great year for the Sliabh gCua men. The parish and surrounding communities are extremely proud of what they achieved this year. It had been a very long 34-year wait for the western title to return to Sliabh gCua and as the saying goes ‘success breeds success’ and we have no doubt this group of players have set the bar high for years to come.

A big thank you to all the supporters who travelled to each and every match and in keeping with the Sliabh gCua/St.Mary’s club motto ‘football green and hurling gold, working together, we never grow old’, the supporters created a great spirit of camaraderie and competition within the parish themselves, with their colourful bunting and creative ways of supporting the team. Well done to all and to Donal Murphy for winning the prize for best bunting. Overall it was a fabulous year for the club and great credit is due to the players, management, backroom staff and all involved this and every year.
The Sliabh gCua Set Club would like to thank everyone who, despite the bad weather conditions, came out to support their Céilí at the Sliabh gCua Community Centre last weekend. A special thank you to Monnie Hallahan for doing such a great job as MC and keeping the dancers on their toes.

A thank you also to all our local musicians who provided some wonderful music and to all the mams and dads who helped out in any way, from providing refreshments and helping with the tidy up. Last but most definitely not least, a thank you to all the dancers that supported us.

It was a joy to see all the happy faces amongst the crowd with all ages dancing together and we hope everyone enjoyed our blast from the past photo display.
