Ferrybank Church

Sympathies

The death has occurred of Richard Foskin, Carriganoonshagh, Kilmacthomas, and formerly of Marymount, Ferrybank, who passed away peacefully on February 4, aged 62 years. Predeceased by his father, Paddy, Richard’s passing is deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary (née: Fetton), his mother Maura, his sons David and Daniel, and his daughter Rebecca. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Paul and Gerard, his nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours, and a wide circle of friends. A valued and well-respected member of staff at Flextronics in Cork, Richard was known for his kindness, dedication, and warm personality. Reposing at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, on Friday, Richard’s Requiem Mass was celebrated at All Saints Church, Newtown, Kilmacthomas, on Saturday morning, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Communities Roadshow

Following the success of last year’s community initiative, the Waterford City and County Council’s, 'Connecting Communities Roadshow', is set to return in 2025. The roadshow series offers local communities a valuable opportunity to engage with organising teams and associated partners, gaining insight into setting up community groups, securing funding for local initiatives, and fostering a stronger, more inclusive, and vibrant community. The first event will take place at the Primary Care Centre in Ferrybank on February 12. These events are free to attend, and members of the public are welcome to drop in at any time between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

New Business

An announcement was made for the grand opening of Abbey Take Away this April, in Ross Abbey Retail Park. This marks a significant milestone for Sandra and Paul Westwood, and they couldn’t be more excited to bring delicious, high-quality food to the local community. To make this venture even more special, they are thrilled to welcome the incredible Mauro and Francesca as their management team. With their expertise, passion, and dedication to great food and service, we know Abbey Take Away will quickly become a favourite spot for both locals and visitors alike.
