The death occurred of Michael (Mickey) O’Callaghan, Bessborough Walk, Banagher Court, Piltown, Co Kilkenny, on Saturday, September 28. Formerly of Mayors Walk, and late of Darrer's Stores, Waterford and Waterford Homeless Action Team, he is sadly, missed by his life partner Mary, children Thomas, Michael, Julie, Val, Lorraine, John and Lisa, their partners Mary, Dean, Marcel, Charlie, Amber and Kieran, grandchildren Alex, Holly, Robbie, JJ, Sonny and Beau, brothers Tony and Liam, Kilmacow, sister Maria Power, St Otteran’s Terrace, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin Theresa Casey, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Mickey was a permanent presence at his beloved Tramore AFC for over 40 years. Nothing energised Mick more than a visit to his spiritual home at Graun Park. Always loving the craic with his great friends along the back wall. Mickey also served on our committee over the years. He loved to pay a visit to his beloved sister Maria Power at St. Otteran's Terrace. His human touch put others at ease. He was the ultimate Good Samaritan, as Mick's work for the homeless knew no limits. He reposed at his family residence, Piltown, on Tuesday evening, with Requiem Mass on Wednesday morning in Ballybricken Church, Waterford, followed by burial in St Mary's Cemetery, Ballygunner.

Eight volunteers from the Tramore Lifeboat RNLI recently completed a demanding three-day Casualty Care Course, designed to enhance their skills in handling emergency situations at sea. The training combined both theoretical and practical elements, covering a wide range of critical areas, including trauma care, spinal injuries, fractures, hypothermia, drowning, CPR, and AED usage. During the course, the volunteers faced high-pressure scenarios that closely resembled real-life rescue operations. These included simulating rescues in the dark and working in confined spaces to extricate and evacuate casualties quickly and safely. RNLI casualty care trainers Michael Butler and John Gorman led the sessions, sharing their extensive knowledge and maintaining a positive and professional atmosphere throughout the course. The volunteers who completed the training include Kevin, Fergal, Dave, Tom, Conor, Nóirín, and Gerry. The RNLI extended thanks not only to the trainers but also to the families of the crew members for their continued support and understanding. The skills learned will be invaluable in future rescue missions, ensuring the safety of both the volunteers and the people they save.
