Local Notes: May madness, summer gala event, field day, committee AGM and more

It was a case of laughing at the crossroads during the recent litter clean-up in Tourin.
The next major event coming up in Tourin will be the May Madness fundraiser with some jam-packed hampers up for grabs in the raffle which will be rolled out for the May Bank holiday weekend. Tickets will be available from committee members so be sure to buy a ticket or two to be in for one of some fabulous prizes on offer. Tickets will be priced €2 a strip or three strips for €5. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards the local hall refurbishment fund. If you're not in it you can't win it!
Remember that lovely day at Tourin House Gardens last year? Well plans are now afoot for a return to this beautiful location for another Gala Day. There is a change of date from that previously advertised and this year’s event will take place on Sunday, June 15. It will be another fabulous event with the chance to gather together, chat and stroll around the fabulous gardens in Tourin with an opportunity to buy a quality craft piece or two.
The Annual General Meeting will take place in May with the date to be announced imminently.
Sunday, August 25, has been earmarked for the annual Field Day so make sure to keep the date free.
Tourin Hall Committee extend their sincere condolences to Helen McGrath, in Drumroe, on the death of her John, in Doncaster, UK, and formerly of 8 Lower Main Street, Cappoquin. Sincere condolences to the O’Donovan and McGrath families at this sad time. Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam.
