Sympathies

The death occurred of Mrs Mary Walsh, Coxtown West, Dunmore East, on January 9th. Her remains were reposed in Tom Hennessy’s Funeral Home, Johnstown, Waterford, on Monday, January 12th, with her removal on Tuesday, January 13th, to Holy Cross Church, Killea, Dunmore East, via her residence for her Requiem Mass and her burial afterwards in Crooke Cemetery, Passage East. Flags flew at half mast in the Dunmore East RNLI premises, as she was a fundraiser for them in the past and her husband John was a retired coxswain of Dunmore East RNLI. Predeceased by her sister Ad, she is survived by her husband John, a native of Passage East, her children Ivan, Sharon, Petrina, John, and Andrew, sister Josie, grandchildren Caoilinn, Saoirse, Tom, Conor, Dylan, Éanna, Ellis, Cillian, Sam, Elizabeth and Emma, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister-in-law, extended family neighbours and many friends. Sympathies are extended to John and his family from all in Passage East.

Maritime Heritage Course

The Tides and Tales team are delighted to announce that they are hosting a Maritime Heritage Training Course commencing in the area in February, in partnership with WWETB Adult and Community Education. It's something they have been working on for many months now and in an effort to give people as much information about the course and what we are trying to achieve. We will host two information sessions in Dunmore East RNLI on this Tuesday, January 27th, at 11am and in Duncannon Community Hall at 11am on Thursday, January 29th. It's a free course and will run for up to 10 weeks, a daytime programme and a maximum of 14 participants.

Hurling

Passage U14's have training on Monday's each week from 6pm to 7.30pm in the Alley and Gym, and the U16's have training in the gym every Wednesday from 7pm to 8.15pm. None of the younger groups are back yet. Congratulations to Ballygunner on winning the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Club title for a second time by beating Loughrea Galway, on Sunday week last in Croke Park and they were given a great game by Loughrea, eventually winning 1-20 to 1-14, thanks to a great goalkeeper in Stephen O'Keeffe the Man of the Match in every way.
