Ferrybank GAA club will hold its annual Race Night in Kilcohan on Saturday, March 8, to help raise much needed funds for the club. Last year was another landmark one for Ferrybank GAA Club, with securing our place in the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship and the completion of Phase 2 of our development. As we look to 2025 and Phase 3 (Fit Out), we are committed to enhancing our facilities to support growing participation, particularly at the juvenile level.
We extend our sympathies to the family of the late Aidan Atkins, Bracken Grove, Waterford who passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 9, in Germany. He was son of the late PJ Atkins, Ferrybank and is survived by heartbroken wife Kerry, his adoring children Ashlee and Austin, his loving mother Patricia (Trish). Aidan will be sadly missed by his brothers Brian, Niall, Dermot and sister Deirdre. Funeral to be arranged later.

A new link connecting Woodstock Estate near Inistioge, County Kilkenny, to New Ross and the South-East Greenway in Ferrybank, has been hailed as a "gamechanger" by local councillors. Funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the project is expected to be completed early next decade. Following a briefing at the Callan-Thomastown Municipal District meeting, councillors across all parties expressed strong support. Fine Gael Councillor Michael Doyle welcomed the progress, calling it a significant step toward achieving this transformative project. It is a long way off but it will prove very beneficial to users of the Greenway running from Inistioge to Dungarvan. Progress on the South-East Greenway continues, with the 5.5km section from Ferrybank to Curraghmore, Slieverue, set to open by late April. The final surface layer and 99 per cent of drainage edge stone are complete, while timber screen fencing installation is ongoing.
A big thank you to everyone who joined in the Ferrybank GAA club’s, 'Ireland Lights Up' last week. To make up for missing last week due to the weather, the walk will take place on Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm, meeting at the GAA grounds. We’re open to suggestions for routes, so feel free to share your ideas. Let’s aim to get a great group out, boost our numbers, and hit at least 4K steps to stay in the running for a chance to win something for our club. Don’t forget to download the Irish Life My Life app, register, and log all your steps. Every step counts!
