Fionnuala will be deeply missed by her brother Diarmuid, sister-in-law Catherine, her nieces Louise and Sara and their families, along with her extended family and a wide circle of cherished friends. May she rest in peace.

Tidy Up

Local Kilkenny Council workers will have to continue to clear large amount of rubbish that had been illegally dumped at the recycle bins in the Aldi Ferrybank car park. This will continue to happen as the culprits know that the rubbish will be taken away weekly by the Council. Until someone is prosecuted, named, and shamed, the issue of illegal dumping will be addressed.

Slieverue ARA

The Slieverue Active Retirement Club is back after a fantastic autumn break in Carrick-on-Shannon. Trips to Argina Mines, Drumshambo Brewery and Famine Museum in Strokestown, proved very popular. A big thank you to the Landmark Hotel and David, our coach driver, for making the trip so enjoyable. Upcoming activities include Chair Yoga on October 30, at 11.30 am, followed by Bingo at 12.50 pm, both in St Mary’s Hall, Slieverue. As always, we are welcoming new members, both male and female. Don't forget, we are conveniently located on the bus route with suitable timings.

Halloween

With Halloween just days away, Gardaí have issued a reminder that the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks is illegal without a license. Anyone caught breaking these laws could face a fine of up to €10,000 and or five years in prison. The same punishment also applies to those who aim lit pyrotechnics towards a person or property. Officers are urging parents to warn children of the dangers of fireworks and are asking the public to report the illegal use or sale of pyrotechnics to their local Garda station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111. Halloween is an enjoyable time of year for many; however, it can evoke negative feelings and fears for some older or vulnerable people. Consider spending the evening with this person and be available to answer the door to keep them safe, and do not leave the person alone on Halloween. If possible, arrange for someone to be with them between 4pm and 10pm, or take them to a community event or a family members home and return home after dusk.

The final draw will take place on Friday, November 15, live on WLR at 4.40pm during the Drive Home slot.
