This year marks the 200th anniversary of Carbally Church. Records show that a plot of land was donated by Lord Hugh Fortescue (Earl Ebrington) for a new Chapel to be built. There is no exact date for the building of the present Chapel but conflicting records say 1823/24. However, in April 1824, in the then published ‘Waterford Mail’ newspaper, an acknowledgement details: 'Lord Fortescue’s generosity by Fr. Edward Colbert CC, on behalf of Fr Nicholas Phelan, Parish Priest of Tramore.'
The Parish Pastoral Council of Carbally Church has organised a special celebration to mark this bicentenary on Wednesday, September 25. Bishop Cullinan will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving in Carbally, to be followed with a reception at our local Community Centre and all our parishioners and friends can join for this celebration.
On October 10, at the The Haven Hotel, Cormac Louth will present an illustrated lecture on 200 years of the RNLI in Ireland. This should be a very interesting lecture especially for those currently volunteering with Dunmore East RNLI. and indeed anyone remotely interested locally. Cormac will be showing a great many rare and interesting images that will include photographs, charts, and paintings and he will touch on the great number of shipwrecks around our South East coast. A focus will also be place on the number of rescues carried out by the RNLI.
The Gaultier Active Retirement Group is looking for new members. Their first meeting is on Tuesday, September 10, at 2pm in the Passage East Community Centre. For information please contact Mary Foskin on 086 2545045.

The committee of Gaultier GAA Club regrettably had to make the decision to postpone our Car Draw until October 27. The Car Draw was put in place to raise funds for our new playing pitch and unfortunately our ticket sales have fallen short of target at this moment in time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported us so far and would ask anyone that was thinking of buying tickets but hasn't done so yet to please push the button. The committee is working on an updated plan to ensure the revenue for the draw is maximised to its full potential and are confident to meet our targets in advance of our new draw date. Tickets are available online at https://www.collectit.ie/gaultiergaa/tickets/or in store at Gaultier GAA Club grounds, Tom Murphy Car Sales, Cork Road, Waterford and Motor Mall, Youghal Road, Dungarvan. Proceeds go towards the Gaultier GAA Playing Facility Development project.
