The death took place on Tuesday, December 10, of Mrs Kathleen Maher (nee: Mahony) Kilmaquague, Dunmore East, former Sacristan to Our Lady's Church, Carbally.
She was an extremely popular, widely known and well-liked lady, not alone in her community but all over the Baron. Her remains reposed at Killure Bridge Nursing Home on Thursday, December 12, and her Requiem Mass took place on Friday, December 13, in Our Lady's Church, Carbally, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Predeceased by her husband Sean, sisters Jenny, Lizzie, Bridget and Maureen and daughter-in-law Toss Maher, she is survived by her sons Seán and Tony, her brother Dick, daughter-in-law Jean, sister-in-law Alice, grandchildren Glenn, Paul, Sarah, Kate, Jennifer, Grace, Troy, Drew and Rory, great-grandchildren Jamie, Katelyn, Treasa, George, Theodore, Tessie and Noah, her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a legion of friends.
Masses in Killea Church this week and for Christmas are Friday, December 20 (9.30am), Sunday, December 22 (9.30am) and the Christmas Mass schedule is: Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24 (8pm); Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25 (8.30am). Please note Christmas Day Mass is in Carbally Church at 11.30am.
Christmas arrangements in St Andrew's Church of Ireland, Dunmore East are: Annual Carol Service on Wednesday evening, December 18 (7.30pm); Sunday, December 22 - Morning Prayer at 11.30am; Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25 - Service of Holy Communion at 11.30am.
There is a fantastic selection of RNLI Christmas cards, souvenirs, gifts and clothing in our shop on the harbour at the moment. Your support helps to save lives at sea. The shop opening hours are: Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm, Sundays from 12.30pm to 4pm. Remembrance Tree Bows are priced €2 and are available to purchase in the lifeboat shop. Christmas cards are also stocked in Harbour Stores, Dock Road, Carbally.
A reminder of the big event in the Carbally Community Centre on New Years Eve for the whole community around the area. A big raffle on the night to look forward to with many prizes.
The Annual Swim in Ballymacaw on St Stephen's Day will take place this year at 12 noon and will benefit a great local charity, 'Waterford helping the Homeless'. Whether swimming or just watching all are encouraged to donate towards this most deserving charity.
