Sympathies are extended to the family of the young man who passed away recently who was a contestant in this year's series of Ireland's Fittest Family. There was particular interest locally as O'Connell family will be part of this year's series.
However, following the young man's passing the current series has been deferred.
Congratulations to our U15 team. They secured a great win against Ferrybank recently and that saw them topping their group and through to the cup final. Details of the final to follow but for now a huge well done girls, the club is immensely proud of you all. A big thank you to their coaches for their superb work so far this year.

We played games against Ballyduff Lower, Na Gael, Butlerstown, Roanmore and Brickeys so a full morning of hurling for all. Many thanks to Ballyduff Lower GAA for organising such a well organised tournament and for inviting us into it. Well done everyone.

Huge congratulations to Portlaw National School on winning the boys U13 football C Shield final. The captain was Darragh O'Connor and he was presented with the shield after an epic battle with St Paul's. Our U13 girls also won the U13 B Shield and our captain Amelia Cowman was presented with the B Shield at Walsh Park. A great day for our school, village and our club, as all of these pupils also play with our Camogie LGFA and GAA clubs. Portlaw AFC U17 FAI Cup Result: Villa 5-1 Portlaw. We exited the cup with a tough away fixture in Villa. We started really poorly and gave away three sloppy goals inside 15 mins. We managed to get a foot in the game after that, before we conceded a fourth just on half time. Into the second half and to be fair to our lads they never dropped their heads. We conceded from a corner before a neat Sam Croke finish got us onto the score sheet. Plenty of learning for us against top class opposition tonight and we wish Villa all the best for the next round of the cup.
U17 Result: Waterford Crystal 2-1 Portlaw. Our first defeat of the season when we travelled to Waterford Crystal in awful conditions which made it difficult to play any proper football for both teams. We were 2-0 down early but our lads didn’t drop the heads and got back into the game when some great team play allowed Samuel Deevy to tap home at the back post. Into the second half and as much as we tried we couldn’t find an equaliser. A quick turnaround as we travel to Villa on Tuesday in the FAI Cup.
Portlaw 2-6 Tramore Match sponsor: Out Of The Woods. Disappointing result when we hosted a top class team in Tramore to the paddock. We fell behind early before Sam Croke got us level from a neat finish. After that Tramore took control and punished us for any errors. A great through ball from Sam Deevy set up Peter Woods for our second goal. We thank Nigel at Out of the woods for their kind sponsorship.
Portlaw Under 15’s: Portlaw 3-1 Piltown. Another win for our U15’s as the boys made it three from three in the league. We opened the scoring through a thunderbolt from Harry Flannery before we were left frustrated, with the stand in Piltown keeper pulling off some great saves. Piltown levelled halfway through the first half and the sides were deadlocked at half time. The lads showed great fight for the second time in a week as we battled throughout the second half and we grabbed all three points through a Luke Bolger brace.
