The death sadly occurred on Monday, December 30, 2024 of Mr. Paul Prendergast late of Powerscourt, Waterford City and formerly of Leamy Street, Waterford. Predeceased by both of his parents and his sister, Ann, he is survived by his loving and heartbroken partner, Maria, brothers Billy and Pat, and sisters Mary and Carol, sisters-in-law, Rose and Pat and his brother-in-law, Maurice. He will be remembered always by all his nieces and nephews and all of the Roche family. He will be forever missed by all his extended family, relatives, wonderful neighbours and wide circle of friends. A celebration of Paul's life took place in Falconer's Funeral Home, Riverstown, and Tramore on Sunday, January 5, at 2pm. As per Paul's wishes, a private cremation will take place at a later date. Condolences are extended to Paul's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
The death sadly occurred on Wednesday, January 1, of Mr. Richard O’Neill, late of Farran Park, Waterford, Predeceased by his loving mother Maria and sister Patricia, he is survived by his loving brother Patrick and sister-in-law Lily Jane, his father Paschal and his father’s partner Theresa. Richard will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends. Requiem Mass took place in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly on Tuesday, January 7, at 11.30 am. Burial took place afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. Condolences are extended to Richard family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
The death sadly occurred on Friday, January 3, of Mr. Patrick (Pat) Murphy, 'Pier View', Cheekpoint, Co. Waterford. Predeceased by his loving brother Jim and sisters Lila and Bridget, he is survived by his loving wife Margaret and loving father of Declan and Paul. Pat will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Linda, sisters Sr. Sheila and Sr. Anne, his brother Michael, sister-in-law Margot, brother-in-law John, grandchildren Yvie, Paul, Lara and Dylan, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took in St. Nicholas' Church, Faithlegg, Co. Waterford on Monday, January 6, at 2pm, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Patrick family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
The death sadly occurred on Sunday, January 5, of Mr. Conor Cleare, late of Lower Newtown, Waterford and formerly of Passage East, Co. Waterford. Much loved partner of Hannah Brennan and adored son of Clare and Brian Cleare, and brother to Grainne, Rhos, Siobhan, Maeve, Ciaran, Aoife and Eoghan. Conor will be sadly missed by his brothers-in-law Brian, John, Cal, Ger and Joe, sisters-in-law Paula and Tanya, nieces, nephews, Hannah’s parents Patrick and Lisa and siblings Isabelle, Adam, Emily and Paddy. Conor will be forever missed and cherished by his entire family and his wide circle of friends. Requiem Mass took in St. John the Baptist Church, Crooke, Passage East, Co. Waterford on Friday, January 10, at 11am followed by cremation in the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork. Condolences are extended to Conor's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
A new series of Bridge lessons will commence at the Parish Hall in Newtown on Tuesday, January 21, starting at 6pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for beginners looking to learn the game or for those seeking to improve their skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Whether you're completely new to Bridge or have some experience, the lessons will cover the fundamentals, including bidding, play techniques, and strategies to help you grow in confidence at the table. Bridge is a great way to keep your mind sharp, meet new people, and enjoy a social and engaging activity. The sessions promise to be both educational and enjoyable, fostering a love for the game in a relaxed setting. The lessons will be led by experienced instructor Paschal Browne, who has been teaching Bridge for several years and is known for his clear and approachable teaching style. Paschal aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of their starting level, can benefit from and enjoy the classes. Waterford Age Friendly in association with Age Friendly Ireland and CARO are hosting a Climate Action Workshop on Tuesday, January 14, in Central Library. The workshop will be followed by a site visit to a local social enterprise Renew, at Johnstown, Waterford. Lunch will be provided.
