Songs of Ireland with Pat Shortt & Mike Hanrahan, August 24, Garter Lane Arts Centre 

Pat Shortt and Mike Hanrahan’s popular TV series “Songs of Ireland “, sees the pair take a musical road trip around the island of Ireland. Now Pat and Mike have decided to take a live show throughout a limited number of venues in Ireland. The show will feature the two musicians taking a musical tour through the nation’s most beloved songs.

Discussing the series, Pat Shortt said: “Songs of Ireland is more than just about the melodies; it’s about the stories behind them, the places they originate from, and the people who keep them alive. Embarking on this series with my old friend Mike has been an incredible experience, and we’re excited to share our journey with audiences across the country.“ Tickets available at Garterlane.ie 

The Life & Times of Dr Mary Strangman, September 5, Faithlegg National School 

The Minaun Community Theatre Group presents a ninety minute play on the extraordinary life of Mary Somerville Parker Strangman.

Born in Carriganore, Waterford, Mary was one of the first female doctors in Ireland and the UK and became Waterford’s first female councillor in 1912. She pioneered work in alcoholism and addiction, championed social reform, women’s rights, and public health, particularly combating tuberculosis. Even after retiring from public office in 1920, she continued to serve as a physician.

The Muddy River Band Live, September 19, Theatre Royal.

Performed by the Muddy River Band, this show is a tribute to the songs of three of the greatest music icons of our time, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Van Morrison. Hear the songs that have echoed through the lives of generations of music lovers from the 1960s right through to today. Early booking is advised at theatreroyal.ie.

Wellness by the Sea Workshop, September 21, Tramore Coastguard Cultural Centre.

Katie Duggan is hosting a two hour workshop on September 21 in the Cultural Coastguard Centre Tramore as part of the Vitamin Sea Festival.

This event is for all levels, including complete beginners. The group will be moving through some very gentle and nurturing practices to help you relax the body and mind. Guests will get to experience breathwork, yoga, guided meditation, soothing sounds, and much more.Please bring your own mat, and blanket and wear comfortable clothing.
