Culture Night is an annual, all-island public event which takes place each year on the second last Friday of September.

The night celebrates culture, creativity and the arts through special and unique events and workshops which are specifically programmed at participating locations.

All activities are made available to the public free of charge.

In Waterford this year, there's an abundance of events taking place, with many more yet to be announced.

Medieval Museum

The Medieval Museum will be offering free guided tours this coming Culture Night. 

Guests can explore the fascinating medieval remains hidden beneath the museum and discover the highlights of the incredible treasures on display.

Garter Lane 

A number of events will take place at Garter Lane this year, including an intergenerational draw-along with Declan Pierce in the main theatre building

Declan Pierce is hosting this fun intergenerational draw-along in the main Theatre building. All materials will be provided for you, but do feel free to bring your favourite pencils with you.

Also planned at Garter Lane is a pop-up exhibition and a letterpress printing workshop.

Waterford Walls

Step into the heart of Waterford's Cultural Quarter with Waterford Walls for a special 45-minute Culture Night tour. 

Explore some of the area’s artworks, created by leading Irish and international street artists as part of past 

House of Waterford 

House of Waterford will be hosting a fascinating journey through time, celebrating Waterford's 1,111th birthday by discovering the rich history of Waterford condensed into just 111 minutes. 

Guests will immerse themselves in the culture, traditions and stories that have shaped our city and county. 

A short presentation by each speaker will be followed by a panel discussion, both of which will form part of a live podcast recording.

Guest speakers include archaeologist Dr. Ben Spillane, historian Chrissy Knight-O’Connor and Head Curator Clíona Purcell.
