Waterford’s first ever professional pantomime, 'Jack and the Beanstalk', was officially unveiled last week.
The largescale production will be embarking on a 22 show run at SETU Arena this December, which will be transformed into a blackbox theatre space for the shows, with 600 seats available.

Waterford’s own Richie Hayes is embarking on the project.
Richie, who is celebrating 25 years of professional panto this year, will be joined by a talented array of local performers along with additional surprise guests who are due to be announced.

“It’s going to be of a scale that we haven’t seen before” Richie said.
"I’m so happy that I finally get to do it. Its always been my dream. The show we’re going to put on for you will be really, really good, a lot of fun and a lot of laughter.
“We have massive plans, this venue is big and we can make it bigger. This year’s panto is just a drop in the water of the five year plan we have in place. So we’re here for the long-haul and we’re going to showcase some of the Waterford talent we have.”

The play is starring Evan O’Hanlon as Jack, Holly Ryan as the magical fairy and Jamie Drohan as the mayor.
Many will know Jamie Drohan from driving the Winterval Mini Express Train in Waterford City.
Catching up with Jamie after the launch, he said: "I'm emotional and overwhelmed because I have no theatrical training whatsoever but I'm going to give this my best, because I want the people of Waterford to see that there's so much that can be given back to the community and I've always loved doing that. This is being made with so much heart and I'm really looking forward to it."
