New production to be 'sketched in glass' in Waterford

The cast of 'Stories Sketched in Glass'
A new play will be staged in Waterford in August and it promises to be emotive and evocative viewing for theatre-goers.
Waterford Youth Arts has teamed up with Garter Lane Arts Centre to bring the evocative and original play, 'Stories Sketched in Glass', to the stage and in doing so will showcase the the exceptional talent of young local artists.
This compelling new production, written by Veronica Coburn and devised with the cast from Waterford Youth Arts Summer Project 2025, will take audiences on an intimate journey through moments and memories, captured like stained glass panels.
The show will be performed live at Garter Lane Arts Centre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 14, 15 and 15, at 8pm each night.
A spokesperson for the production commented: “A young girl sits in a cathedral. Back at her house a sun-drenched summer sesh rages on. In another part of the city a figure in a bay window stands and watches the interplay of robins and starlings on the lawn, and over in Ferrybank a young man stands at his bedroom window watching a trawler make its lazy way up the river."
Commenting on the work, Veronica Coburn said: "Plain glass, stained glass, telling stories, revealing stories; stories told in snatched moments like stained glass panels high up on the Cathedral wall.”
Early bird tickets are available, priced €10, until Wednesday, August 6. Full price tickets will be €17 and prices for students and those who are unwaged will be €15.
Tickets are available from the Garter Lane Arts Centre box office and online. Due to limited seating, early booking is strongly recommended.
