Next Sunday's Super League National Championship final between regular season champions Killester BC Dublin and SETU Wildcats has a 2pm tip off at the National Basketball Arena Tallaght Dublin and the good news for supporters who can’t travel is that the game is live on TG4.
The STS sponsored Waterford side will have to be at their very best if they are to bring the coveted trophy back to Suirside, a task that has eluded them for the past 15 years.
A repeat of their excellent performance when they defeated Kildare side Liffey Celtics may not be enough considering the way Killester breezed past Liffey in the regular season final so it will take an exceptional performance from Wildcats if they are to be successful.
When the two finalists met in the Super League, the first encounter was in Dublin back in October and Killester were much too strong for Wildcats winning by a comfortable 30 points. For a time Wildcats form was a bit hit and miss but recent results should give them confidence that they are a match for the best.
Their home form has been exceptional winning all but one which was against Liffey Celtics. Among those home victories was a 87-78 win over Sunday's opponents Killester. No doubt coaches Tommy O'Mahony, Jillian Hayes-Hickey and Trish Nolan will scout the video of that game in preparation for the final and brief their team accordingly. Whatever the outcome it’s been a very good season for the club having captured the National U 20 Cup and now a place in the big one - the Championship Final.
