Southend United FC have previously applied for major extensions to its facilities

Ballybeg soccer club Southend United have applied for planning permission to build a single-storey spectator stand.

The stand is designed to have a pitched roof covering 116 seats. It would be accessed via a pedestrian access route across a grassed area within the existing site.

The application coincides with other major works for Southend. In 2025, the club was granted planning permission for the construction of single-storey extension to the front and side of the existing clubhouse.

The extensions will be used for a community room, additional sanitary facilities, a referees' room, a coffee kiosk, internal alterations to the existing building, the extension of its entrance canopy and a connection to the public sewer.

The club has previously availed of Government grants through the sports capital programme.
