One County Waterford secondary school was very unlucky not to win their recent Munster senior camogie final when they were defeated by the narrowest margin possible.

The St Declan's Community College senior camogie squad lost the recent Munster final by one point, however, it was also a very significant game for five of the squad members as it was their final ever game for their school.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Hard luck to our Senior Camogie team who put in a fantastic performance in the Munster Final, narrowly losing out by just 1 point. An unbelievable effort from every single player - you should be so proud.

"A huge shoutout to our five Sixth Years who have proudly represented the school for the past six years and played their final game in St. Declan’s colours," she said.

"Thank you for your dedication, commitment and memories over the years: Lexi O’Rourke, Jody Whelan, Aisling Kelly, Erica Larkin-Power and Katie Dunphy."

The spokesperson also complimented those involved in training the team, commenting: "A big thank you to Ms Rockett and Ms Harty for all the time, effort and support throughout the year in bringing the team to this incredible stage.

The team's sponsors were also praised.

"Thanks also to our wonderful sponsors - Danny Kirwan Mulhearne Foodstore and Phelan’s Centra, Kilmacthomas - for sponsoring drinks and treats for the girls on match day," said the spokesperson.
